1999 was a funny ol' year in Vince McMahon's company.

It unquestionably boasted some of the most memorable moments in WWE history, with everything from Mankind's Monday Night Raw WWE Championship win, to 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin's first WrestleMania encounter with The Rock going down that year.

However, it also contained one of the most baffling developments ever to go down in the sports entertainment sphere.

After months of wondering who the mysterious "higher power" The Undertaker had been droning on about during his quest to gain control of the company actually was, it was ultimately revealed that the boss himself was the person hiding underneath the hood.

So, the same bloke who had been terrorised and tormented by 'The Deadman' all this time, with his daughter even being kidnapped by the despicable 'Phenom' and Vince being forced to reluctantly join forces with long-time enemy Austin, was actually behind the acts all along? All just to exact some revenge on 'The Texas Rattlesnake'?

Unsurprisingly, fans were entirely unsatisfied with such a ridiculous swerve in the end, with many hoping said long-awaited reveal would introduce a brand new powerful figure in the company.

This was simply another example of Vince frustratingly making it up as he went along, though, and most just gave up trying to understand this increasingly confusing Corporate Ministry madness there and then.
