10 Examples Of Triple H Being Ridiculously Selfish At WrestleMania

4. Triple H Beating Randy Orton (WrestleMania XXV)

Going into WrestleMania XXV, Randy Orton was the 2009 Royal Rumble Winner and arguably the company€™s top heel with his new Legacy stable behind him. In the build-up to this match, Randy had mercilessly attacked members of HHH€™s family, including Stephanie McMahon, who was finally acknowledged as Triple H€™s real-life wife. Randy had so much more momentum going into this match and was poised to win the WWE Championship from Triple H. So it was kind of weird to see Triple H€™s hand hoisted in victory at the end of the show. Sure, HHH wanted revenge for Randy€™s actions, and Orton was acting like such an a**hole following the Royal Rumble. But Randy was clearly the man who needed to win at this show. Had Randy won, it would€™ve made his Royal Rumble win that much more significant, and Randy would€™ve gone on to spend the rest of 2009 as the top man in the company. Furthermore, once again Triple H suffered the important loss at the first PPV immediately following WrestleMania. As with his rivalry with Sheamus after WrestleMania XXVI, Triple H lost the title to Randy at Backlash 2009. Why couldn€™t that win have taken place at WrestleMania, where the stakes are higher and the matches more important? Once again, Triple H wanted to look like the bigger star at WrestleMania, despite his opponent needing the victory more than him. This was a time when Triple H was winding down in terms of matches, yet he was still the one getting wins at WrestleMania. This just speaks volumes of the selfishness he had at the time.
