10 Excellent Reasons Why Bret "Hitman" Hart Is The Greatest Wrestler Of All-Time

6. Promos

Another knock on Bret is that he wasn't a great promo. Again, a ridiculous claim.

Three examples immediately come to mind that clearly display Bret's ability to cut a riveting promo. The night after WrestleMania 13 (Bret's verbal heel turn in the USA), the night after the 1997 Royal Rumble ( the origination of Bret's complaints of "being screwed") and, lastly, his pre-match promo against Davey Boy at SummerSlam '92.

In nearly every interview he gave while on top from 1994 on, Bret's words oozed with credibility, giving fans no reason to doubt what The Hitman was saying.

Bret also had the uncanny ability to make fans not only believe the words he was saying, but feel the emotions that were behind them. A great example came on the go-home RAW before WrestleMania 13 where, in less than fifty words, Bret had fans feeling his frustration with the way he delivered his post-cage match promo as he shoved down Vince McMahon.

Like every wrestler that comes through the business, it may have taken Bret some time to develop his voice, but by his second run as Intercontinental Champion, Bret was more than a decent promo. By his final WWF Championship reign, he was among the best.
