Expectation: WWE developmental league NXT has had an incredible year. Not only has it been the most consistently great wrestling programme on television (or The Network), but the group's popularity has seen it expand outside of its Florida base and it is now putting on live events in front of sell-out crowds around the country. NXT, which is Triple H's very successful pet project, is the wrestling fan's wrestling promotion. The old-school format combined with cutting-edge wrestling appeals to the longtime fan that is disillusioned with WWE's current product. NXT is the future of WWE, a place where you can see tomorrow's superstars honing their crafts in front of small but enthusiastic crowds. The future looks very, very bright with the likes of Finn Bálor, Adrian Neville, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Hideo Itami and Kalisto tearing it up on a weekly basis. Former WWE favourites like Rhyno and The Brian Kendrick have also resurfaced in the promotion in an effort to resuscitate their careers. With all the attention that NXT is getting, couple with the amount of sway that NXT foreman Triple H has in the company, there are hopes that NXT could be showcased with a match at WrestleMania. Reality: Not going to happen, I'm afraid. Even if WWE did announce an NXT match for WrestleMania, that would likely be the first thing sacrificed in the (likely) event that the show overruns. Triple H may be a big booster for NXT but Vince McMahon and production ace Kevin Dunn couldn't care less. Until they do, the talented men and women at NXT aren't going to be featured on the big stage.
