10 Explanations For WWE’s Marginalisation Of Randy Savage

2. Heading To WCW

WCW had been in contact with Savage towards the end of his WWF contract, and Vince caught wind of this. He had a few sit-downs with Randy about it, and reports are that, each and every time the subject came up, Randy told Vince to his face that he would be re-signing with the WWF and would not be "jumping ship". The time came and went, and not only did Savage not re-sign with the WWF, but he did, in fact, sign with WCW, debuting for them soon after his deal had expired. Through everything that had supposedly gone down in their relationship, Vince still looked at Randy like a brother, and he was said to be devastated that his "brother" had left the company, and by lying to do so. Obviously, it was Randy's life and contract, and he was free to do whatever he wanted with it, but if the story is true, could he have handled himself better? Vince already knew WCW was knocking on his door, so couldn't he have just told Vince about his grievances, said he is considering WCW's offer, and waited to see if Vince would respond with something better, either financially or to rebuild their relationship? That way, even if you did end up leaving for WCW, it wouldn't be on terrible terms, and you probably would have gotten bonuses for it, as WCW would have probably upped their offer for you once they found out about your negotiations. It really isn't that difficult. If any of you have ever been lied to you by someone you loved and considered family, you could understand just how Vince must have felt when he saw that Randy's contract had officially expired, and that he was gone from the company.
