10 Faces You Never Thought You'd See On WWE TV

2. Verne Gagne

One of the biggest casualties of WWE's national expansion, Verne Gagne's AWA went out of business in 1991. While other promoters suffered the same fate as Gagne, perhaps no other roster was raided quite like the AWA’s: Mean Gene Okerlund, Bobby Heenan, Jesse Ventura and most importantly, Hulk Hogan, were all signed away.

So it was bittersweet to see Gagne inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006 – ironically, the same night Hogan inducted Okerlund. His son Greg made sure to mention that neither he nor his father had to join the “Kiss My Ass Club” to be honored. Furthermore, when Gagne mentioned McMahon during his speech, he played off the audience’s jeers by quipping, “You know, I never did like the guy either.”
