Despite working in WCW during the '90s as an enhancement talent, James Tilquist didn't make a splash in the US wrestling scene until moving to TNA in 2005 with tag partner, Bruno Sassi, as Phi Delta Slam. PDS would appear throughout 2005 but quietly disappear later that year.

The duo briefly returned to TNA in 2009 as security for Kurt Angle's Main Event Mafia and later Mick Foley. However, Tilquist's most infamous role in the company came in 2010, at the ECW reunion show, Hardcore Justice.

With The Blue Meanie unable to attend, rather than simply leave him out of the equation, TNA opted to replace him with aptly named Big Tilly (aka Tilquist in a Blue Meanie outfit). Displaying mannerisms and the exact attire of the original Meanie, Big Tilly would fill the role of "Da Blue Guy". He accompanied the real Stevie Richards and Hollywood Nova as the Blue World Order for the duration of the show.

Coincidentally, Big Tilly was also flanked in a number of segments by a faux version of Lupus, an original member of Raven’s Nest from ‘97. TNA's Lupus was played by Sam Shaw, who would go on to make a bit of a name for himself as a Christie Hemme's storyline stalker in 2014.
