10 Fake Versions Of Popular WWE Superstars

7. Jim Ross - Oklahoma

While considered more of a parody than an outright fake, Ed Ferrara's mockery of Jim Ross in WCW was one of the most despicable acts of the Monday Night Wars. In an era of bad taste, this was considered bad taste.

Speaking with an Okie drawl, sporting a cowboy hat and entering to the "Boomer Sooner" theme of JR, Oklahoma was a carbon copy of Jim Ross and done so purely as a means of humiliation. Ferrara even stooped as low as to poke fun at JR's Bell's palsy affliction by mimicking the commentator's facial mannerisms as he spoke. This was the WCW of the Russo/Ferrara era, ladies and gentlemen.

During his run as an on-screen character, Oklahoma actually appeared in the ring on PPV at both Starrcade 1999 and Souled Out 2000. Shockingly, the latter resulted in him winning the WCW Cruiserweight Championship from Madusa in what was another dark day for wrestling from the WCW camp. The title was vacated as Oklahoma "exceeded the weight limit" of the Cruiserweight Division, once more devaluing the championship, while also denying Madusa of her revenge.

The gimmick was short-sighted, distasteful, and unnecessary from every point of view and both Russo and Ferrara have expressed their regret in the years since.
