10 Familiar Faces AEW Should Sign
8. Rusev
Rusev Day was last celebrated back in May of this year and shows no signs of returning to the calendar. His absence has been a mysterious point of speculation amongst fans for quite a while now.
Adding fuel to the fire is his recent activity on social media. He has also been actively replying to rumors on Twitter, including a report about how he and Lana “aren’t sure what their next step is going to be”.
He simply replied, “Oh I know what my next step is.” Then he (like a lot of Twitter in general) attacked Brad Shepard over a report he made saying that Rusev was now resigning. He said to Brad, “You need to make up your mind my due” and later replied again saying “How can you report when you have no idea” lending some credibility to the idea of his departure.
Also with Rusev debuting a new look on social media this week, if he isn’t departing the company he may certainly be leaving his character behind. It is almost never an accident when someone changes their signature look upon preparation for a return. And ditching the archaic evil foreigner gimmick is a breath of fresh air we all could use.
There may be no better home for Rusev to renew himself in than AEW. Similar to how Ryback would be an intimidating presence due to his size, Rusev is in the same class. And he is a better overall polished entertainer, as well.
Rusev Day is still being celebrated long after Rusev’s days on WWE television ceased. That charisma he possesses is an asset that AEW would love to have at their disposal.
