10 Familiar Faces AEW Should Sign

7. Brian Cage

Impact Wrestling

Keeping with the theme of the “WWE guys”, we instead have to look to a member of IMPACT’s roster. Having been dressed and ready to go at Double or Nothing, he got the call from IMPACT saying that he couldn’t compete due to his current contract with them. It was a shame after the great performance he had in a similar setting at All In.

But this does seem to show that there is a growing sense that Cage may want to fly the coop. And who could blame him considering the fact that AEW has already dwarfed a promotion that used to be the clear (albeit distant) number two to WWE? Considering the other two IMPACT stars at Double or Nothing were Scarlett Bordeaux and Killer Kross, two people who have asked for their release, the writing may be on the wall.

The smartest thing for IMPACT to do is to embrace what is happening. Find some equal ground with AEW and try to partner in some way, similar to the relationships with AAA and OWE. As sad as it is, exposing their stars on AEW will give them a bigger stage. And this could lead to some interesting “invasion” angles as well.

Not ideal for IMPACT, but with Cage’s clear intentions to be part of AEW, it may be their best way to salvage what they can talent-wise. The number of people with eyes on the door is increasing. There may even be one big name who already walked out of it.
