10 Familiar Faces AEW Should Sign

6. Johnny Impact (John Hennigan)

With a now-expired contract after Slammiversary (and several weeks before it for that matter), John Hennigan is free to drop his latest surname if he so chooses. And when the choice is the Pursuit network or TNT, the choice becomes a bit easier.

But that is, of course, assuming he is going to continue to wrestle. Long toeing the waters of Hollywood, this could be his chance to make that leap. But the former Tough Enough contestant has so much talent in the ring, it’d be a shame not to let him have a turn at a likely upper card on AEW’s grand stage. And some signs point that this may already be a done deal.

Hennigan has been receiving treatments from BioXcellerator, a stem cell therapy company, in Colombia. According to Johnny, this is “for nagging injuries incurred over the last 18 years of making towns, bumping & feeding, and taking dudes to Slamtown”, which doesn’t sound like something a retiring wrestler would do.

Rather, this sounds like a triumphant return for a very talented wrestler. AEW seems to be the place to do that sort of thing, and with his great wrestling ability and charisma, he may be exactly the type of talent the company wants. Ask that Dean Ambrose guy how his career has been going since he made his debut there. He seems pretty satisfied.
