10 Famous Wrestlers Who Had Only One WWE Title Match

For all the amazing work Curt Hennig did in WWE, be it as a trailblazing Intercontinental Champion or as a partner/rival of Ric Flair, he received more televised World title shots in TNA than he ever did in McMahon-land.

A former AWA World Heavyweight Champion, having defeated the legendary Nick Bockwinkel for the honour, Hennig moved to WWE in 1988 and eventually wound up in a programme over Hulk Hogan's world title. Rumour has it that he was supposed to win the 1990 Royal Rumble at Hogan's expense, but you can have one guess as to who that didn't work for, brother.

Though he faced the Hulkster numerous times away from the cameras, Perfect only had one taped match for the top title. It was part of the WWF on MSG Network show from January 15th 1990, and whilst he did win the match, it was via disqualification.

Hennig is the perfect (pardon the pun) example of a wrestler being in the wrong era. His style simply wasn't suited to the big, brash main event scene of the late 80s and early 90s, but if he'd come along just a few years later, things might have been very different.
