10 Famous Wrestlers Who Had Only One WWE Title Match

2. Jake Roberts

Much like Mr. Regal, Jake "The Snake" Roberts is another wrestling icon who never got a fair shake of the main event stick.

In fact, across his runs in both WWE and WCW, Roberts didn't win a championship of any variety, which is insane when you think about how impactful he's been on the business.

Whilst working for the NWA, The Snake got a handful of non-televised matches against top champions Harley Race and Ric Flair, and he was a house show opponent for Hulk Hogan in 1986 and 1987. These matches may not have been on TV, but at least they were one-on-one - unlike his sole broadcasted championship challenge.

The only televised match that featured Jake Roberts going for the WWE Championship was the 1992 Royal Rumble. Along with 29 other men, The Snake competed for the vacant belt, entering at number 16 and lasting just ten minutes before getting eliminated by Randy Savage.

The fact that Roberts never even got a televised singles match for the top prize is a huge injustice, as he would have made a great number one contender and, undoubtedly, a brilliantly evil champion.
