Mexican sensation Mil Máscaras is one of the most celebrated and important luchadors of all time, which is a shame, seeing as how most people just remember him as that guy who eliminated himself from the Royal Rumble.

Alongside Blue Demon and El Santo, Máscaras brought the Mexican style of wrestling to a wider audience, setting in motion a chain of events that is still being felt today. Without him, modern wrestling would look very, very different.

Though most of his best work was done either south of the border or across the ocean in Japan, the man of a thousand masks did work a programme with WWE Championship "Superstar" Billy Graham in the 1970s.

They had two matches over the strap, one of which was televised on the December 19th 1977 edition of WWWF on MSG Network. Máscaras actually won the match, but as it was due to a referee's decision, the title stayed where it was.

Graham famously didn't enjoy working these matches, which might explain why more of them didn't happen, but at least there is hard evidence out there that Mexico and the USA's finest did once go toe-to-toe.
