10 Famous Wrestlers With Terrible Finishers

7. Jerry Lawler - Diving Fist Drop

Lawler’s most iconic finishing move is the piledriver, but in WWE that became a banned move over the years. So when Uncle Jerry did get in the ring to teach someone 30 years younger than him a lesson, he’d have to pull the diving fist drop out of his arsenal.

The main problem with the diving fist drop is that its completely ridiculous. The effect Lawler is looking for with the move is to punch his opponent in the head while they’re laying on the ground. This begs the question “why doesn't he just punch them in the head instead?”. Also, you must wonder "Why did he decide on the second rope? Was the first rope jump not effective enough? Is the top rope too devastating?".

It must also be noted that King jumping off the ropes without moving his arms makes the finisher less effective than a regular punch, it also gives his opponent time to recover and puts him in danger of missing it. There's really nothing to like about it.

Lawler may be The King, but this move is far more fitting for a jester.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
