5. Chris Jericho vs. William Regal - WrestleMania X-Seven
Given how popular both Chris Jericho and William Regal are among discerning wrestling fans, its quite surprising that this match isnt as fondly remembered as it should be. Perhaps its because Jericho has had more memorable WrestleMania moments against bigger stars, but this bout against William Regal for the Intercontinental Championship shouldnt be overlooked. There are aspects of this feud that are fondly remembered, notably Chris Jericho sullying Commissioner Regals tea with his urine, and sneaking up on him while dressed as Doink The Clown, but it had a darkness to it as well. William Regal has a vicious streak like no other and heading into this match, he proved that he wasnt someone Jericho wants to mess with and stood tall as a legitimate threat to Jerichos Intercontinental Championship. The match is a fantastic back-and-forth between two of the best wrestlers to ever step in a WWF ring. Jericho is someone who at times struggles in a pure babyface role, but when pitted against a stuffed-shirt like Regal, it allows both men to play up the best parts of their characters perfectly, and it makes for a fantastic opener to what many cite as the greatest WrestleMania of all time.
