9. Randy Orton vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts - Heel vs. Heel Grudge Match
The Viper vs. The Snake Like him or not, Randy Orton is going to go down as one of the icons of the TV-PG era mostly due to staying power and his ability to have good matches on the big stage. Orton's peers love his work with Bret Hart commenting that he's the best worker in the business today and Paul Heyman stating that, if he were starting a wrestling promotion tomorrow, he'd choose Orton as his centerpiece. Jake Roberts is quite simply a legend in every sense of the word. He was Steve Austin before being Steve Austin was cool. One of the best pure heels in the business, Roberts convinced most of the audience that he was 100% evil. Not only that but his promos were so legendary that people still rip them off over 20 years later. While other workers in the 1980s were screaming and yelling, Roberts spoke so softly that you had to turn the volume on the television up to hear him. He did this on purpose so that people would actually have to listen and pay attention to the words he was saying. While Orton has had many title runs during his time in WWE, Roberts never needed a title. Roberts was so over during his peak that he was the number two babyface in the company behind Hulk Hogan. When he turned heel later on, he was so effective that WCW signed him to a big money contract to wage a feud with Sting. It's a shame that Roberts personal demons robbed him of an even greater career. In the end, an Orton vs. Roberts match would be worth it if only for the promos. Roberts and Orton have both worked as heels and babyfaces but honestly, this match would be the best if it were a heel vs. heel match-up. They could both work their heel psychology and it would become a battle of "who can cheat the best", which would be tremendously entertaining. Both guys move very deliberately in the ring and every move would mean something. By the end, the crowd would be eating out of their hands.
