10 Fantasy Wrestling Matches That Never Happened

5. Chris Benoit vs. Daniel Bryan - Submission Match

Daniel Bryan Chris Benoit Chris Benoit and Daniel Bryan both traveled similar paths throughout their careers. Both guys were thought of as "too small" for the main event slot. For years, Benoit was thought of as just a great midcard worker who would never be anything more. Kevin Nash himself even referred to Benoit as a "vanilla midget", making fun of both his size and his lack of charisma/personality that featured main event guys were thought to have required. The story of Daniel Bryan has been well-documented in recent years and his fight against the establishment was equally driven by the internet. Bryan was one of the best workers on the roster but also was able to provide some great storyline moments. His heel act with his innocent manager, AJ Lee, brought back memories of Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth with the pretty girl helplessly in love with the egotistical jerk. A partnership with Kane seemingly propelled Bryan to the top of the card and his longtime battle with the Authority both frustrated and thrilled fans. Both were also probably the best technical wrestler of their generation. Bryan and Benoit have similar movesets and were never afraid to put their body at risk with a diving headbutt or a dive to the outside. Watching the psychology between these two would be amazing and, given ample time, this match would steal the show on any pay-per-view event.
