10 Fantasy WWE Stables That Would Have Been Amazing

4. WWE's Four Horsemen

Vince McMahon was achingly close to being able to present one of the original incarnations of the Four Horsemen on his show in the late-1980s, had it not been for the moving pieces that sent The Brain Busters back south and Ric Flair the other way just a year later.

In 1988, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard moved to WWE right around the time rumours swirled of 'The Nature Boy's intention to do just the same. Ultimately, he stayed, but as a pair of ice-cool hitmen for Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan, the pair lost no steam and won tag team gold in a stint which ended somewhat acrimoniously 18 months later.

1989 was another sweet spot for the NWA loyalists when JJ Dillon joined WWE as a member of the backstage team helping produce his former charges as well as fellow former Horseman Barry 'Widowmaker' Windham and lifetime Flair foe Dusty Rhodes.

By the end of the year, money was on the table for the Busters to return to their roots, and a failed drug test chased Blanchard out before a scheduled appearance at the 1989 Survivor Series that marked a final date for 'Double A'. Buy the time 'Slick Ric' landed in 1991, Anderson was again settled in WCW whilst Blanchard found himself on the outs with both major organisations.
