In 2010, CM Punk was in the midst of a memorable run as the 'Straight Edge Saviour'. That preachy gimmick successfully turned Punk heel, and it led to a cracking little feud vs. perennial babyface Rey Mysterio. Looking for a way to heap on the sympathy and make Punk look even more evil, WWE booked Rey's young family to appear.

Originally, the booking called for Punk to turn Rey's children against him. Yes, that means Dominik would've gone rogue on daddy dearest a full 12 years before doing so in 2022. Dom debuted as a wrestler in 2020, then turned on Rey to join Judgment Day following a tag-team run. He could've linked up with the Straight Edge Society first.

What a thought.

WWE ended up scrapping these creative plans and going in a different direction. Nobody could've known back then that 'Dirty Dom' would become a heatseeking missile in the promotion over a decade later, or that he'd willingly turn on his father anyway.

Amazing.
