Both The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels lobbied to have Jim Ross commentate their iconic rematch at WrestleMania XXVI. The legendary pair knew JR could add to the majesty of it with his timeless style, but Vince McMahon was having none of it, put his foot down and said no. That was that.

Ross still managed to have a private moment with two of his favourite workers afterwards. He wrote in one of his books how he attended the weekend's festivities, but wasn't shown on camera during the show and didn't feel particulary welcome around McMahon. To make it up to him, Michaels and 'Taker invited Jim to join them out in the parking lot for a few drinks after the pay-per-view.

He was the only one invited.

JR said he was honoured to be a part of that, and described the little get-together as a "sanctuary". Keep in mind that Shawn had just retired (at least as a full-timer for the next eight years!), but he didn't want to make the night all about himself - he wanted to share it with one of his greatest peers and Jim.
