Batista met with Vince McMahon at the Rumble in January with a view to appearing on WrestleMania 32. 'The Animal' was originally pencilled in to beat down the League Of Nations alongside Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin and Mick Foley, but he was busy shooting Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 and couldn't make it.

No Drax The Destroyer for you, WWE.

Being honest, the company had irked big Dave in 2014 anyway. His return run that year left a bad taste in the mouths of many who viewed him as a gatekeeper preventing Daniel Bryan from blowing up (even though he didn't prevent a thing), then Triple H and Stephanie McMahon annoyed Batista by giggling at his Hollywood prospects.

Come 2016, Batista was probably relieved that he didn't show up next to Foley, Austin and HBK. Their segment was a fun-but-unnecessary add-on to the show, and it amounted to more of a nostalgia-fuelled cameo more than anything memorable.

It would've been sweet to see Drax hit a powerbomb though.
