10 Fascinating Final Matches From Famous Wrestlers

7. André The Giant

In an ideal wrestling world, André the Giant would have hung up that big ol' singlet after WrestleMania III. Even by that point, he was incredibly hard to watch. He could barely move, having to hold onto the ring ropes for the vast majority of his matches to maintain his balance.

However, André kept going as absolutely long as he could. He knew his time on Earth was short, and wanted to do everything he loved (mainly drinking and wrestling) until the very end.

While his last WWF match was in a Superstars of Wrestling taping teaming up with Haku against Demolition in early 1990, his last match in the wrestling industry was in Japan on 4th December, 1992. He teamed up with Giant Baba and Rusher Kimura to take on Haruka Eigen, Massa Fuchi, and Motoshi Okuma. His team won, and he then announced he was retiring from the business.

Thirteen months later, André passed away at the age of 46. It’s a shame he never said goodbye to his WWF fans, but he did get to go out in front of a Japanese audience, who were also integral to his career.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
