10 Fascinating Final Matches From Famous Wrestlers

5. Randy Savage

Turning Point 2004 was the second ever three hour pay-per-view put on by TNA. They had some pretty big names booked for the show to drum up interest like Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Jeff Hardy, but one of the big hooks to entice fans into buying the event (which was triple the price of their weekly pay-per-views) was the return of Randy Savage to the ring.

It had been nearly four years since we'd last seen him in action, and one final run didn't sound like too bad of an idea at the time...if he was still in shape.

Savage was teaming up with Hardy and A.J. Styles to battle the Kings of Wrestling...except that he wasn’t there to start the match. He'd been kidnapped! Minutes passed and he still hadn’t shown up. The fans grew restless. Seventeen minutes in, and he finally appeared. This was not the Macho Man we remembered, though. He was noticeably smaller, and was wearing a long sleeve black shirt to cover his physique

In the ring, he threw a series of punches, before sitting on Jarrett after a failed sunset flip attempt for the win. He was in the ring for all of a minute. Paying customers were likely not happy with their order.

Here was the legendary Savage, battling Nash and Hall—who were inexplicably dressed in Elvis-like outfits—earning a victory with one of the weakest pinfalls of all time. A sad and bizarre way to go out, but perhaps he made the right call in not returning, as a planned singles match between him and Jarrett would have been even more disastrous.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
