Though they're best-remembered today as the allies who tried to bring down Hulkamania at WrestleMania III, Bobby Heenan and André the Giant had a long history as bitter enemies. The Brain had spent much of the early 1980s attempting to force André out of wrestling via his proxies in the Heenan Family, with mixed results. Unable to best André in the ring, Heenan hit upon a more insidious strategy: airline sabotage. No, he didn't plant a bomb in Andrés luggage or anything, but he did cancel one of his flights and the big guy got suspended for missing a show. Enter: Giant Machine. This titanic newcomer wrestled in a suspiciously familiar off-the-shoulder singlet and spoke with an impossibly thick French accent for a guy that supposedly hailed from Japan. Heenan became obsessed with proving that André and the Machine were one and the same, noting that there aren't too many 7 foot tall giants around. Gorilla Monsoon helpfully offered that it might be Giant Baba. Ultimately, Heenan dropped his case with WWE officials and André quietly returned, shortly before turning heel and joining the Heenan Family. Hmm...
