Eat your heart out Curt Hawkins… nearly. There’s been far worse records in WWE, but for Cody Rhodes as Stardust to lose 41 matches in a row is crazy to look back on. Can you blame him for leaving?

There’s a lot of house show matches against Apollo Crews, Cesaro, and Zack Ryder in this run, but when you see the pay-per-views Cody was on the card for it’s hard to understand if he was valued or not.

Despite losing in arenas across America almost every day, WWE would still throw Cody into World Heavyweight Championship tournaments, Intercontinental title number one contender matches, and even have him on the Survivor Series pre-show. He must've known that he was reliable but not rated; a body to fill multiman matches mostly won by the same main event stars.

Coincidentally, Cody's last match in his first WWE run was somewhere special to him. He lost against Ryder at Greensboro Coliseum Complex in Greensboro, North Carolina in a match that was only streamed online. That's not the important part though... At Starrcade '84: The Million Dollar Challenge in the same venue, Ric Flair defended the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against none other than Dusty Rhodes.

It's amazing how these things come full cricle.

When I'm not trying my hardest to visit all 50 U.S. states, I'm listening to music from the 80s, watching TV from the 90s, and reminiscing about growing up in the 00s. I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia so WWE premium live events are on Sunday afternoons for me; the absolute dream.
