10 Fascinating WWE Backstage Facts About Roman Reigns
8. Tamina Handcrafted The Lei He Wore At Hell In A Cell 2020
Roman Reigns, in 2020, was lacking a key ingredient.
His SummerSlam reemergence was bombastic and his allegiance with Paul Heyman was bodacious, but his 'Head of the Table' schtick was without that essence that has made Reigns WWE's star attraction. No longer could WWE's evident franchise player be relied upon to carry the company on the basis of being Roman Reigns; he now had to be bigger than WWE itself.
That began following his Hell in a Cell victory over Jey Uso at the namesake pay-per-view. Battering 'Main Event Jey' in a gripping titular match, Reigns was established, at last, as the real, authentic 'Head of the Table' - and it was a rare Wild Samoans appearance that sealed the deal. Afa and Sika embraced Reigns after the match, presenting him with a red Lei, a high honor in Samoan heritage. The Lei, however, was not without a personal touch, being painstakingly hand-crafted by Tamina.
Tamina, who also made the white Lei adorned by Jey Uso for the match, explained during a WWE The Day Of... documentary that her side of the family came together to put a little something together for the match, staying up until the wee hours in the morning to make it happen. The result?
The icing on the cake of a heated, well-executed first act of WWE's hottest storyline in decades.
