Wrestling Braun Strowman at the 2017 Fastlane, Reigns decided to alter his gear very slightly, adding a white sole to his boots. It looked sleek, matched the rest of his outfit, which also came with white trim, and was discreet to the point that you wouldn't have noticed it, had it not been for the odd backlash it received; indeed, as Roman divulged to long-time WWE pre-show nuisance Sam Roberts, it was a no-go from the decision-makers.
Appearing on Roberts' Notsam Wrestling podcast mere weeks after the incident, Roman explained how the boots received a stern disliking from a "very important person" (h/t Sportskeeda Wrestling):-
“I pretty much matched up my soles because I’ll wear different colors with the black. I had white on the vest and gloves and stuff, and they had a white trim on it. I matched it up [with white soles] and I thought it looked sweet! One person didn’t and he’s a very important person, so…”
Roman didn't explicitly state that it was Vince McMahon who hated the gear alteration - but who else would have such a strong opinion about a white sole?
