If the 1996 run never happens, Warrior's final WWE pay-per-view match would've been his SummerSlam 1992 battle with Macho Man Randy Savage for the WWE Championship. A respectable showing, even with the screwy finish. Instead, it was the clunker with Lawler. In the days following the pay-per-view, Warrior would perform in what would be his final matches for McMahon.

Warrior's last official WWE match took place two nights after King of the Ring, beating Vader in an untelevised match at the Superstars taping in LaCrosse, WI. Days later, Warrior and McMahon had a monumental blow-up over character licensing and infringement, leading to Warrior storming out of a Indianapolis' Market Square Arena on June 28, following a caustic phone conversation with the boss. After only three months, Warrior was gone once more.
