When Hulk Hogan won the WWE Championship for the fifth time at WrestleMania 9, it was a major deal for two reasons. One, he was the first man to win five WWE Championships. Second, five was considered monumental because no other wrestler at the time had held the belt more than twice. Today, 16 men have held the WWE Championship three times or more, thanks to the rapid title switches that became standard in the post-Hogan years.

When The Rock pinned Vince McMahon to win Triple H's WWE Championship (more on that in a bit), he became just the third man to hold the belt for a fifth time. Bret Hart was the second, having reached the mark in 1997.

Since 2000, four other men have joined the five-timers club for the WWE Championship: Steve Austin, Triple H, John Cena, and Randy Orton.
