As noted with the Hall of Fame entry on this list, the 1992 Royal Rumble was jacked to its gills with renowned stars, many of them credible potential-victors of a gauntlet where the WWE Championship was at stake.

For three different men that would be WWE Champion in their careers, it was somewhat surprisingly the only Rumble appearances for each. Two of them, Colonel Mustafa and Sgt. Slaughter, were up there in age, and winding down their full-time careers anyhow. Mustafa would be gone from WWE before summer, while Slaughter scaled back his in-ring run that August.

The third was the towering Sid Justice, who seemed poised to be a mainstay in WWE for years to come. However, Sid left WWE that April in dispute over a drug test. He would later wrestle for the company sporadically from 1995-97, winning two World titles in that stretch, but never again took part in a Rumble match.
