It was like deja vu, as if fans had somehow seen Randy Orton wrestle John Cena on pay-per-view before. Their memories weren't messing with them - due to the sheer overexposure of both men over the proceeding decade-plus, Orton and Cena had crossed paths more than perhaps any two individuals should.

Between 2007 and 2014, Cena and Orton wrestled a whopping ten pay-per-view singles matches against each other, with the Rumble being their ninth. This doesn't even take into consideration their squaring off in triple threat matches (WrestleMania 24), fatal four ways (Backlash 2008), five ways (Vengeance 2007), six pack challenges (Night of Champions 2010), and even Rumble matches where the two would cross paths (2011, 2013).

In short, the fans were sick of seeing the two face off, and were going to let WWE know that, good match quality be damned.
