On Saturday, July 10, 1993, Lex Luger put over Bret Hart at a house show in Seattle. From that point until SummerSlam on August 30, Luger did not wrestle once, save for one match with Yokozuna in Memphis a week prior to the pay-per-view. That's because Mr. "Made in the USA" was out campaigning.

According to Luger, he literally spent nearly two months touring around the United States on the customized, star-spangled Lex Express. His itinerary consisted of waking up at 5 AM every morning, and getting in an entire day's worth of autograph sessions and media appearances before an evening dinner and some time at the gym before bed.

The campaign was a forceful attempt to get Luger over as the face of WWE and ended up as a flop, due in large part to WWE's decision to have him beat Yokozuna by countout.
