10 Fascinating WWE SummerSlam 2005 Facts
3. Hogan Had Felt That Michaels' Promos Had Gone Too Far
The highlight of the entire feud was the return of classic heel Michaels. The sour-hearted, sharp-tongued, gives-no-effs Michaels. Since HBK appeared on more episodes of Raw than Hogan did, he had more of a forum to verbally skewer Hulk, and he did so masterfully. His in-ring soliloquy in Montreal six nights before the pay-per-view is Heel 101, and should be played on loop at the Performance Center as part of a master class.
One person not enamored with the content of Michaels' promos was Hogan himself. Michaels contests that he got permission from Hogan, as well as McMahon, to crack vicious on The Hulkster, but that Hulk would go to the higher-ups and insist that Michaels was going too far.
Michaels would contend that a lot of the creative that went into his promos came from Stephanie McMahon. Michaels also adds that Hogan would even tell him to his face that the promos were all well and good, but would tell management otherwise. Make of that what you will.
