Only seven matches made the main pay-per-view; eight if you count "Kevin Rudolf vs. a disinterested crowd" among the battles. The Observer notes that there were timing issues all night, particularly in the undercard. This resulted in the CM Punk/John Cena/Big Show triple threat for the WWE Championship being relegated to under 13 minutes.

Although not announced for the pay-per-view, a match between Brodus Clay and Damien Sandow was set to take place, but was scrapped because of the time constraints. It would've likely been some kind of impromptu challenge, where the stuck-up intellectual is confronted by the jovial, dancing goliath, and then a short match ensues.

The two did face off on Raw the following night, with Sandow winning via a roll-up in under three minutes. Real winners: the fans at SummerSlam, who paid good money to watch Kevin Rudolf lip-sync.
