Granted, there were only a handful of WWE pay-per-views prior to Survivor Series 1987 (Two WrestleManias, a closed-circuit WrestleMania, and The Wrestling Classic), so it's not as impressive that nearly half of the match participants were taking part in their first pay-per-view. Still, 20 out of 50 wrestlers competing in their first pay-per-view matches is still interesting nonetheless. Many of them had only debuted in the company in 1987, demonstrating the influx nature of the roster.

In the opener, 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan and 'Outlaw' Ron Bass were making their pay-per-view debut. Seven of the ten women were also debuting, including Sensational Sherri, Rockin' Robin, The Jumping Bomb Angels, Judy Martin, Dawn Marie (not the ECW valet), and Donna Christianello.

Seven wrestlers from the 20-man match were first-timers: Demolition, The Young Stallions, Tama, Dino Bravo, and Boris Zhukov. Finally, the main event had four of its own: Ken Patera, Bam Bam Bigelow, The One Man Gang, and Rick Rude.
