5. It Marked Dynamite Kid's Last Night In The Company
Things were incredibly tense after the incident. The Rougeaus sensed retaliation was coming, and that's when Vince McMahon stepped in. The British Bulldogs shortly thereafter gave their notice that they would be leaving, allegedly outraged that McMahon didn't fire the Rougeaus for the attack.
In order to keep the peace, McMahon had the Bulldogs give their word that they would not get even. Bret Hart notes that McMahon had threatened to withhold Dynamite's payments, including royalties and pay-per-view payoffs, if he didn't comply with the cease-fire. Against his general fighting spirit, Dynamite agreed.
After Dynamite peacefully worked a few spots with Jacques early in the match, the Rougeaus were eliminated five minutes in after Bret pinned Jacques' brother Raymond. This allowed the Rougeaus to leave the building while the Bulldogs remained part of the action for another 30 minutes. After Dynamite was pinned by Smash, he and Davey Boy Smith left the promotion, as intended. Smith would return in late-1990, while Dynamite would never again grace a WWE ring.
