The one-year reign of "Big Daddy Cool" came to an end following an innocuous inside cradle. Hart already knew he would be transitioning the belt to Shawn Michaels come WrestleMania 12, but it was a third reign for him nonetheless. The gain from Diesel stood as the third time that "The Hitman" reached WWE's apex.

Before that date, only Hulk Hogan had won the WWE Championship three times or more (five, in fact). Hart's victory that night made him just the second man to pull off the hat trick.

As of present day, 15 different men have held the WWE Championship on three occasions or more. Hart joins Hogan and five other men (John Cena, Triple H, Steve Austin, The Rock, and Randy Orton) as holding that particular belt five times or more.
