One of the seminal victories in Brock Lesnar's first run to the WWE Championship was his convincing win over Hulk Hogan on SmackDown. After getting bear-hugged into unconsciousness, you'd think that The Hulkster would be brought back at one point to try and avenge the loss.

Hogan didn't return to the fold until January 2003, but there were apparently plans for him to return sooner. According to Lesnar, McMahon wanted to bring Hogan in for Survivor Series to challenge Lesnar for the gold. Since it was Madison Square Garden, a Lesnar victory there over the long-time wrestling pillar had potential to be a landmark match.

Lesnar speculates that Hogan may have balked at the idea upon learning that he'd be putting him over a second time. That's a shame, because the New York crowd response to that match could've really been something.
