10 Fascinating WWE Survivor Series 2011 Facts

6. Sin Cara Missed Six Months After Injuring His Knee

The year 2011 was supposed to be a big one for incoming lucha sensation Sin Cara, the former Mistico. But the masked marvel that was expected to carry on the Rey Mysterio mantle for years to come just wasn't resonating with the WWE audience.

His matches were basic and at times awkward, lacking the Mysterio flair. Attitude issues were also reported. Nonetheless, WWE pushed forward with Sin Cara as a future star and merchandise mover.

His introductory year got worse when he injured himself during the five-on-five elimination match at Survivor Series. A misstep prior to an out-of-ring dive resulted in Sin Cara rupturing the patella tendon in his right knee. This setback put Sin Cara out of action for six months, not returning until the middle of May 2012. By then, it seemed all attempts at a serious upper-card push were shelved.
