It was hard to tell how the 2014 Survivor Series was going to do on pay-per-view, especially as WWE was bending over backwards to get fans to watch it through their Network service. The number was expected to be lower than it was than during the pay-per-view-exclusive era, but how low?

When the numbers came in back in December 2014, it was a wee bit surprising to see Survivor Series do so well for itself in the pay-per-view market. Survivor Series managed to do 103,000 buys, with 33,000 of them coming in North America. Most of the 70,000 international buys are believed to have come from the UK, where the Network was not yet available.

Interestingly, the 2013 Survivor Series did 98,000 North American buys, meaning that one-third of that still chose to buy the pay-per-view a year later, even with a "free" alternative available.
