Perhaps WrestleMania 25 would have been held in a higher esteem overall had the main event delivered. Triple H retained the WWE Championship over Randy Orton in a match spanning nearly twenty-five minutes. For the most part, reaction to the supposed grudge match was lukewarm, with neither man doing anything to indicate an intense hatred for one another.

That's because the stipulation for the match said that Triple H would lose the belt if he were to be disqualified. For the previous two months, Orton had been assaulting Helmsley's in-laws, and the champ even broke into Orton's house in a murderous rage. Surely, this would be the kind of match that called for overbooked mayhem.

But no, it was just an overly-long main event with little heat. A month after the show, Orton candidly criticized the stipulation in an interview with The Sun, blaming the restrictive decree for not allowing them to do anything that would match the explosiveness of their storyline.
