10 February PPVs You Should Watch On WWE Network

2. NWA Chi-Town Rumble (Feb 20, 1989)

Best Matches: Ricky Steamboat vs. Ric Flair, Lex Luger vs. Barry Windham, Rick Steiner vs. Mike Rotundo Any Flair vs. Steamboat match from their 1989 series of epic World Title matches is great professional wrestling. They had three classics within a few months and they are still among the best matches ever over 25 years later. This was the first NWA World Title match in their series. Flair was the heel champion and Steamboat was the challenger. This was shortly after Steamboat returned to the NWA after being in WWE for several years. It's such a great match because they had amazing chemistry and kept going for the entire 23 minutes they were given. You could tell that they could have gone longer if they wanted to. It was a natural chemistry where they made everything look easy. Their chops were so crisp. Flair was selling perfectly, even going over the top at times to make Steamboat look good, but it worked. The crowd was so into it. They had a creative ending with the original ref getting bumped, then Teddy Long coming in and counting the decisive pinfall for the Steamboat win. It was a huge win for him because Flair was such a dominant champion. They did the ref bump with the replacement ref finish to set up the rematch. Smart booking. It really was one of the best matches ever. That one match was by far the best one on the show, but don't forget about Lex Luger's US Title match against Barry Windham. It was at a time in Luger's career where he really elevated his game and showed he could be a top star in the business. Windham was an incredible athlete in his prime. Luger won the title after they did a spot where both guys' shoulders were down, but Luger got one shoulder up and that was enough for the win. In addition to that, there's a six man tag match with legendary managers Jim Cornette and Paul Heyman at ringside. They were in their mid-20s at that point. It's so cool to see them out there when they still had a lot of learning to do and became such big names in the business on the creative end too. If you haven't seen this show, check out Flair vs. Steamboat. You won't be disappointed.
