3. A Feud Against An Individual Shield Member
So that we're clear on this point, I'm not talking about RVD feuding with The Shield itself. It's been done already to an extent, and at this stage, its redundant. What I'm talking about is individual feuds with Shield members, nothing to do with the faction itself. At the minute, the teased breakup of The Shield has been put on hold for Wrestlemania. But like or not, it's coming, and Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns will eventually have to branch out as singles competitors. In the spirit of this, they need to begin to craft their own identities on mainstream WWE. In the past, members having individual feuds and career paths has been a good way of doing this. Edge won the King Of The Ring while still teaming with Christian, and while still a member of the Hardy Boyz, Jeff Hardy competed for singles championships and had feuds against The Undertaker and coincidentally, Rob Van Dam. So who should be the one to feud with Mr Monday Night? Ambrose has already done so for a short while, but it never really went anywhere. Roman Reigns seems to be the one tipped for initial singles success, so it seems likely that he'll be the first to branch out. Personally, I'd like it to be Seth Rollins. Given Seth's own brand of high flying style, I can imagine him and Van Dam to put on a hell of a match if they're allowed to cut loose. Ideally, if Van Dam becomes an Intercontinental or United States Champion, I'd love to see them in a Cage or Ladder match. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long.
