Since becoming the Authority's Director Of Operations, Kane has surprised audiences and has proven to be an excellent corporate stooge, providing an effective figure of authority while being low enough on the card to keep all feuds just out of the main event picture. He was on his way to building an angle with CM Punk before his departure, and is currently occupied with The Shield in the run up to Wrestlemania. Afterwards, he could easily be a thorn in Van Dam's side. To begin with, Kane could offer Van Dam a chance to compete for the Intercontinental Championship, stressing how privileged Rob would be as a Champion endorsed by The Authority. Van Dam would casually reply that he needs no endorsement, which would offend Kane, and thus the wheels are in motion. As well as this, it would be a nice touch if WWE would play up the history between the two, acknowledging their former friendship and how Kane has changed beyond all recognition. Kane could set up Rob against The New Age Outlaws or whatever current minions he has at his disposal, before he's forced to deal with Rob himself, provoked into the destructive monster that he used to be. It's an angle that invokes nostalgia as well as involving Kane in more active competition. He still has some life in him yet, and its a shame to see him constantly sitting on the sidelines.
Stephen Maher has been a rock star, a bouncer, a banker and a busker on various streets in various countries. He's hung out with Robert Plant, he was at Nelson Mandela's birthday and he's swapped stories with prostitutes and crack addicts. He once performed at a Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras by accident. These days, he passes the time by writing about music, wrestling, games and other forms of nerdery. And he rarely drinks the blood of the innocent.
