10 Feuds That Must Happen Before WWE WrestleMania 33

2. John Cena Vs. The Miz

Though he continues speaking of his desire to match Ric Flair’s 16 world titles, John Cena’s recent match results say a lot about his future with WWE. He remains a tremendous wrestler and the company’s biggest draw, but AJ Styles has pinned him cleanly in two consecutive matches, and his reduced schedule suggests he’s not going to be the company’s primary focus any more.

Cena might get one last reign, but he’ll likely be used as a tool to put fresher acts over. A win over John Cena still means something, and WWE would be wise to take advantage of this before his physical abilities start declining. He has already put Styles over, and now it’s time for Cena to aid someone else’s rise to the top.

The Miz’s previous rivalry with Cena ended in a Rock-assisted farce at WrestleMania XXVII, but much has changed since then. Cena isn’t the all-conquering burial merchant he was a few years ago, and Miz has become one of the company’s best heels since the Brand Split. Miz’s run-ins with Daniel Bryan have completely rejuvenated him, and when he finishes his business with Dolph Ziggler, he deserves a big main event run.

Feuding with Cena is perfect way to kick that off. It wouldn’t make much sense to shove Miz in the Universal Title picture after losing a feud with Ziggler, but if he overcomes WWE’s biggest star? That’s a completely different story...
