10 Flops WWE Should Never Have Tried Again

9. Blindfold Matches

Jake Roberts and Rick Martel deserve a ton of credit for doing the best they could with the blindfold gimmick at WrestleMania VII. Their heavy emphasis on comedy helped the match stand out on a 14-match card, but that's not to say it's re-watchable or anything. In fact, it was a bit of a failed experiment.

So, of course, it's been dusted off more than once.

Triple H and D'Lo Brown had a blindfolded bout on Raw in 2002, Jamie Noble and Nidia had a variation at No Way Out 2004 and there have been a few eye-rolling moments involving Hornswoggle and Santino Marella since. WWE should have cut their losses with Roberts and Martel. At least those guys had freshness and unpredictability on their side.

The problem is that once you've seen one blindfold wander-fest, you've seen them all. This is a gimmick match that might work in front of kids on house shows, but has no place on TV or pay-per-view as a meaningful attraction.
