The only 'New' thing that's good is the 'New' Daniel Bryan.

It's as simple as that. Typically, the 'New' branding is a kiss of death that ends an act's run before it even gets started. After all, why would fans give a toss about it when creative lazily rehash old gimmicks? The 'New' Rockers, 'New' Blackjacks, 'New' Razor Ramon and Diesel, 'New' Legion Of Doom and more have all been awful.

The beauty of Bryan is that he isn't redoing something else. Instead, he's acting like a man who has evolved as a human being, can now see the light and judges people for acting the way they do. It's easy to understand and doesn't lean on hokey gimmickry like cowboy hats, face paints or spandex made for someone else.

When Leif Cassidy and Marty Jannetty flopped as The 'New' Rockers (a deliberately uncool update on Shawn Michaels and Marty that nonetheless sucked), the 'New' name had a chance to sneak out the back door. It didn't. It stuck around long enough to infect other performers with the stench of failure.
