10 Forgotten Final Matches Of WWE Legends
1. Bret Hart
Raw on September 12th 2011, teaming with John Cena against Alberto Del Rio & Ricardo Rodriguez
Everybody knows how Bret "Hitman" Hart's career ended because he loves to talk about it. A wayward kick to the head from Goldberg at Starrcade 1999 left the Hitman with a concussion that forced him to retire the following year.
Hart was at the end of an incredible career. Still listed in a generation of fans' all-time favourites, Bret rose through the ranks in the WWE at a time when Vince McMahon was transition from meaty men to technical talents. He'd hold the WWE Championship five times and headline WrestleMania twice (it should've been three times, looking at you Hulk Hogan). His feud with Shawn Michaels in the ring and in real life is legendary.
Everybody knows he returned to WWE in 2010 and faced Vince McMahon in revenge for the Montreal Screwjob, but he had even more matches than that. He'd have nine more matches in WCW before his worst fears were realised, then he'd be thrown into another five WWE matches in 2010 and 2011.
Without taking a single bump, he beat the Miz for the United States Championship on an episode of Raw in Canada; he really was the ultimate babyface there! His last match took place in Canada too.
Teaming with John Cena to take on Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez, the match ended when Del Rio walked away and Bret put Rodriguez in the Sharpshooter. One last hoorah for the Hitman in his home country, something that looked impossible for over a decade. He only beat an announcer too, so unlike with the Fabulous Moolah and others, no full-time wrestlers were harmed with that booking.
That's how you do it.
