Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat is a WWE legend. His match with "Macho Man" Randy Savage at WrestleMania III is still the benchmark for how to have the ultimate showdown at the Showcase; it was two incredible wrestlers at the peak of their powers outshining the bigger stars in the main event.

The Dragon's career is defined by this match, but he had a much longer career than that. Despite a dispute with management pushing him out of the WWE door, he'd return to the Fed after short runs with WCW and NJPW. Threatened with a squash match loss to The Undertaker, he'd soon be gone again though.

Considering how much WWE talks about his match with Savage, they really did the dirty with Steamboat in the 80s and 90s. Oh, what could have been.

When The Dragon returned to WCW, he'd carry World Tag Team, World Television, and United States Heavyweight gold before hanging up his boots in 1994. His last match was a loss to Steve Austin, until he got the chance to have one last WrestleMania match 15 years later...

The Dragon teamed with Jimmy Snuka and Roddy Piper in a losing effort against Chris Jericho, with chants of "You've still got it!" reigning down on the WWE Hall of Famer. He'd get three more televised WWE matches and a run on the SmackDown/ECW house show circuit before retiring again in 2010.

At the ripe old age of 69, he'd have one last dance. Big Time Wrestling put on a special event in 2022 called Return of the Dragon, where Steamboat teamed with Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood of FTR to defeat Brock Anderson, Jay Lethal, and Nick Aldis.

With triple Figure-Four Leg Locks in place, the heels tapped and The Dragon's career was over.

When I'm not trying my hardest to visit all 50 U.S. states, I'm listening to music from the 80s, watching TV from the 90s, and reminiscing about growing up in the 00s. I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia so WWE premium live events are on Sunday afternoons for me; the absolute dream.
